Reduction - Orgatec 2024
Info
Under the theme ‘Reduction’, the Danish non-profit organization Danish Design Makers, in collaboration with Orgatec, invited 20 designers to exhibit at Orgatec 2024.
The designers were paired with companies from the industry, each providing specific briefs. The exhibition design also had to follow the theme, focusing on creating an impressive visual impact with a low impact in resources.
Low-hanging textiles formed an intimate and inviting entrance for visitors, encapsulating an extraordinary space with a relatively open floor plan. The contrast between low and high, broad and slender, open and closed created a dynamic tension, providing the framework for a remarkable exhibition space. By keeping all sides of the booth open, visitors could move freely in and around the core in a natural flow.
The booth was designed using deadstock textiles. The idea was to combine multiple functions into a single surface; therefore, the textile served as an attraction, a divider, and a communication tool. By using textiles as flat banners instead of curtains, we saved up to 50% of the material. Graphics were printed directly onto the textiles using environmentally friendly ink.
Podium top plates and other elements were made of Greengridz, a lightweight grid-constructed plate material. Using the material in its natural color reduced processing, and the plates were easy to repurpose. The podium feet were borrowed bricks, which, after the fair, were returned to their original life cycle.
